The Question Every Parent Wants To Know:

Do I have what it takes to home-school my kids?

“Would you feel differently if I told you that homeschooling isn’t always easy and that’s ok?”

Take This 3 Minute Quiz & Find Out If  Home Schooling Could Work for You!

You’re here!

Great!

That means you are at least considering home educating your kids. Perfect!

So now we need to decipher whether you will strive and thrive with the kids at home or bomb and sink.

Both are ok.

No one is judging you here.

In fact, what you are about to do will save you and your family a whole lot of time and energy in the long run.

I wish I’d been able to take this test ten years ago when I was trying to decide whether or not to take the leap and homeschool my kids.

It would have taken a lot of the second guesswork out of my decision, that’s for sure!

As it was, I took and dive into unknown waters and learned the hard way.

And (as it was), ten years on and two high school homeschoolers later, homeschooling was the best decision I ever made (and I think you’ll feel the same!).

Ok then.

Make your self a nice cup of tea or a coffee (or, if it’s that time –  a glass of something nice!) grab a pen or pencil and answer as honestly as you can!

And remember, do not feel in any way pressured to say what you think is ‘right’.

Ready to see if you have what it takes to keep your kids at home full time and let them try something other than the four walls of school?

Let’s go!

a) You love Monday Mornings because it means that you can get the little blighters off to school and you will be rid of them until the afternoon.  (2 pts)

b) You are happy when Monday night soccer practice is cancelled due to rain as it means that you can arrange a family dinner and finally get to breathe and talk together.  (4 pts)

c) You dread Sunday nights. They are worse than Monday mornings because your time together as a family is coming to an end.  (6 pts)

Your family manage to sit down for dinner…

a) At Christmas and maybe on the occasional birthday. And that’s how you like it. Eating as a family is stressful and time-consuming.  (2 pts)

b)  At least five nights a week. This is a sacred time for your family and one of the only chances you get to reconnect.  (6 pts)

c) Once or twice a week. You’d love to do more, but everyone is so busy with clubs and activities it seems impossible.  (4 pts)

The way you LOVE to relax is…

a) Watching a movie with your kids – especially the ones with funny bits that are meant only for adults!  (I’m thinking, Shrek and Toy Story!)  (4 pts)

b) Settling down into bed with social media. You don’t feel right if you haven’t caught up on all the latest online memes and gossip.  (2 pts)

b) Facebook. It’s a great way to keep in touch with family and friends and be reminded of any school notices that you may otherwise miss.  (4 pts)

c) Not really into it. You did put Facebook on your phone once, but you can’t remember the password. Although in saying that you love getting brilliant crafty ideas for things from Pinterest. Does Pinterest count?  (6 pts)

When your child asks you to read to them, you say…

a)  What? Oh, look at the time! Let’s see what’s on the TV.  (2 pts)

b)  I have an idea! Why don’t you read a page and then I’ll read a page? (4 pts)

c)  Shall we ask Daddy too? He loves reading Harry Potter to us all.  (6 pts)

c)  Make a card and write a thank you letter (regardless of the fact that they outgrew beanie kids three years ago and are now into Nintendo.)  (6 pts)

You are expecting your Mother in law to drop by in the next hour. Your kids ask if they can make a cake with their sleepover friend. You say…

a)  No way José.  I have only just tidied the kitchen, and you will make a mess. You know how Granny thinks we are perfect, let’s keep it that way shall we? (2 pts)

b)  Why not make those ten-minute muffins that you made last time? Even better, you could play Ready Steady Cook and have everything done within thirty minutes? (6 pts)

c)  If you need it for your career, then go for it, but there are lots of other ways to get ahead in life than University. Some of the worlds most successful people never had a university degree.  (6 pts)

And please do not feel that this is a reflection on you as a parent, it is not.

Homeschooling works for some & not for others. If we were all the same the world would be a boring place!
