How is the work life balance in New Zealand?
Work-life balance is the perfect middle ground where a person equally prioritizes the demands of their career and the demands of their personal life.
New Zealand law states that ‘Employment agreements must fix the maximum number of hours to be worked by the employee at not more than 40 hours per week (not including overtime)’ and guess what? New Zealanders like to stick by that law!
Unlike other countries where it is ‘expected’ or ‘respected’ to work long hours, here in New Zealand it is quite the opposite.
Weekends playing sports, taking whatever holidays they can, and spending long summer evenings at the beach or at the river with friends, are the norm in NZ. If you are ten minutes late for work because your child had an assembly presentation, it is ok.
