When looking for a destination for your next big family holiday, there are loads of reasons why you should consider Australia, no matter how much your children try to convince you that America is the place to be. Disney World again? Really? Tell your kids there are theme parks down under too, as well as a host of other interesting places to capture their interest. Of course, you are guaranteed a great holiday as well, so be sure to put your foot down.

Here are some of the reasons why you should consider a family holiday down under!
The beaches are incredible.
Australia’s beaches are largely family-friendly, meaning you can relax under the sun while your children entertain themselves nearby. Horseshoe Bay in New South Wales is a definite highlight, with camping areas if you’re looking for an extended stay and secluded beach areas where you and your kids can enjoy privacy. Honeymoon Bay in Tasmania is perfect for introducing your kids to underwater adventures, with plenty of swimming and snorkelling opportunities. And there are some brilliant beaches along the Gold Coast, with opportunities for surfing, dolphin spotting, and scenic family walks aplenty. Book yourself into the vogue holiday homes for an extended stay.
There are loads of theme parks.
Okay, so your children won’t see Mickey Mouse, but they won’t be that bothered when they see what theme parks are available to visit. Warner Bros Movie World has thrill-seeking attractions and superhero adventures, Jamberoo Action Park is one of Australia’s greatest water parks, and Dreamworld on the Gold Coast has been voted as one of the best theme parks in the world, with huge rides and incredible wildlife experiences. Check out these theme parks and more here, and put them at the top of your Australian bucket list itinerary.
Australia is wonderful for animal lovers.
If your kids love animals (and what child doesn’t), know that there is plenty to see across the country. Not only will you get to see the native creatures up close and personal at Australia’s wildlife parks and zoos, but you will also catch a glimpse of the wildlife while you’re traversing the country, whether you are on foot or exploring from the confines of your car. From kangaroos to koalas, there is much to see, but be warned: you are guaranteed to hear those familiar cries of “I want one” from your kids. Sadly, while the wildlife here is magnificent, they aren’t really pet-material. Sorry, Skip!
Australia is educational.
Okay, so here’s one reason you don’t want to give your children at the outset! Education is boring, right? No, of course, it isn’t, but you are guaranteed to elicit groans from your kids if you tell them they will learn something! Travelling to Australia will change their perspective anyway, with the various cultural experiences they will soak up along the way, and there are fun places you need to add to your itinerary that won’t feel like an extended school trip. Space buffs will love the Space and Technology Museum at Carnarvon, dinosaur fans will enjoy the National Dinosaur Museum in Canberra, and for a true taste of Australian Aboriginal culture, the Uluru Cultural Centre is a definite highlight. Check out all the places of educational interest here. There really is something for everybody!
We think you and your family will have a great time down under, for many reasons, not only those that we have mentioned. And if you have already visited this grand country, let us know your reasons for visiting, and tell us about some of your holiday highlights. Thanks for reading, and as they say in Australia, g’day!
