Confessions of a Newbie Author

Confessions of a Newbie Author

Looking back, I was so wet behind the ears I’m surprised I didn’t drown.

Two years ago, I announced to the world that I would be writing, publishing and marketing my first-ever book with no clue what lay ahead. Ahh…isn’t ignorance bliss…

But as challenging as it has been, writing and publishing my book is STILL the best thing I have ever done.

In this week’s special edition podcast, Brian and I are celebrating something we have been working on for months: the AUDIOBOOK of the Travel Bog Diaries (narrated by me and produced by Brian) is now ready and available to purchase!

Links to the book:

If you are in the USA and are new to Audible, use THIS LINK and get your FREE copy of The Travel Bog Diaries Here!

If you are in the UK and are new to Audible, use THIS LINK to get your FREE copy of the Travel Bog Diaries Here!

You can also get the Travel Bog Diaries from Spotify, iTunes, Amazon or your favourite audiobook retailer!

To mark this special occasion, Brian is steering the It’s a Drama Podcast ship as Liz takes you behind the scenes and into the life of a first-time author and audiobook narrator by answering personal questions that close friends and long-time listeners have kindly submitted.

Questions include:

Did writing this book and making the audiobook affect your marriage?

What was the hardest part of the audiobook process?

How did the kids feel about being so exposed in the book?

Was making this book anything like you expected?

Enjoy!

Proverb: “Man who work non stop has small sausage”

You leave your home to go “away” for a few weeks and believe that everything will be Puuurfecct.

You tell yourself you’ll relax. Take massages. Eat out (without complaining).

Wrong.

Join Liz and Bri this week as they open a can of sausages (small ones) and share the highs and lows of being away from home for 5 weeks.

They reveal the gourmet and gross food they’ve eaten in New Zealand, the things they’ve ditched and discovered since being away, and Brian blurts out his problem with little dogs…

Enjoy!

What a Drip

What a Drip

This week’s episode is brought to you from the lovely and very gorgeous art deco city of Napier in New Zealand, where Liz and Bri are travelling for free (again) by housesitting. This time for five weeks in a rambling old villa perched high on a lofty hill.

Ah…Life is perfect.

Me and Bri, living like a Lord and Lady Muck in our ole kiwi manor house.

What’s not to love about that?

Well…get yourself comfy, and we’ll tell you…

How’s Life Alone? Tessa. (Behind The Scenes).

How’s Life Alone? Tessa. (Behind The Scenes).

This week’s podcast is a behind-the-scenes chat with Liz and her daughter, Tessa.

Tessa (19) is a regular guest on the podcast. Since her last visit, she has flown the nest to start a new life alone in the capital city of New Zealand, Wellington.

As is often the case with life, things don’t always turn out as we expect them to. We don’t feel the way we anticipate. Life throws us challenges, and although they are necessary for us to grow, new experiences aren’t always easy or pleasant.

And that’s why we wanted to share this conversation.

I asked Tessa to come to the microphone and share what life has been like moving away and living alone for the first time.

We know that many of you listening to this podcast have kids, and we hope by sharing what Tessa feels (and her experiences), you will resonate, and it will help in some small way.

Sit back, pour yourself something nice and join this intimate conversation between mother and daughter.

Up Yours, Hugh

Up Yours, Hugh

Is there anything worse than a fraud? Someone who poses to be someone they aren’t??

In this week’s episode, Liz and Bri talk about family reunions, tell-tales, defending titles, overstepping the limit at work and being presented with a half-naked chocolate Italian.

My, my. I hope you’re ready…

Call Yourself a Friend??

Call Yourself a Friend??

Liz and Brian are off on a five-week holiday. Housesitting in New Zealand. But before they reveal where they are going, they want to tell you all about the loneliest place in America, the twee-est town in China,  and the smelliest place in Australia. Oh, and it’s only fair you should hear about Dave the deserter –  some bloke they knew ages ago who was a friend-not-friend. The one with purple hair.

Sit back, pour yourself something nice and get ready to chuckle!
