San Gimignano is a charming medieval hilltop town nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Italy.
It is an absolute must-visit destination for travellers seeking an authentic Italian experience, and in my (humble) opinion, it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Known for its well-preserved architecture, picturesque landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, I think San Gimignano is one of the best places to visit in Italy. Why? Because it has it all…
We are currently staying in Tuscany, Italy. In a beautiful seaside town called Porto Santo Stefano.
We are here for six weeks – housesitting (more on that in a minute) and have spent a great deal of time writing about Italy travel tips and creating podcasts and videos about travelling this fabulous country.
So, guess what we did this week?
We drove for two hours to spend the day exploring the quaint, much-talked-about, beautiful town of San Gimignano.
And because we love you…
When we returned home (to our housesit), we made a podcast for you.
To share our very real and honest thoughts on what WE thought of the famous San Giamingnio and whether we thought it was worth the two-hour drive through Tuscany.
But.
Before you listen to this brilliant husband and wife podcast, here are a few facts about San Gimignano in Tuscany and five compelling reasons why you should (perhaps) consider adding San Gimignano to your travel itinerary.
Ciao, Bella and welcome to Porto Santo Stefano in Tuscany (one of the best places to visit in Italy), Italy, where Liz and Brian are (still) currently housesitting for Six. Whole. Weeks.
I know. You don’t have to tell them.
They feel like that couple, Calvin and Zatera Spencer who won the lottery three times in one month.
In this week’s soggy ‘Best of Italy’ podcast episode, you will discover:
Why Italy came to a standstill for at least ten and a half hours.
Why Italian women look SO cool in cow boots while Liz, on the other hand, looks like a farmer in drag.
What Brian thinks about the boats in this Tuscany harbour and why he nearly bit Liz’s head off when she infers that he doesn’t live up to an Italian man…
This week’s show is brought to you from Tuscany in Italy. Brian and Liz’s home for the next six weeks while they housesit a superb home with a friendly little cat.
I know. You don’t have to tell us. We feel like we’ve won the lottery.
The thing with Italy is everyone thinks it is perfect.
And it is. Of course, it is. I mean, what’s not to love about Italia?
The buildings are beautiful, the weather is lovely, the people are gorgeous, and the food is divine…
But what about those bloody pigeons? (Why have the flying rats chosen THAT house?) And all those steps?
And WHY, just because the Italian restaurant owners are so strong and handsome and persuasive, do you end up with an 80 euro bill when all you went in for was a bowl of olives??
Sit back and let Liz and Brian share a few things about Italy that might just surprise you…
It was all going so well. We had just driven from England to Greece in our little red car, had the time of our lives in Greece and were now ready to turn around and have more adventures in Europe.
And then it happened. The car broke down. Blew up. Bang. Kaput. Two miles outside of Calais.
Of course, we were devastated. Gutted. Panicked.
How would we continue our trip? How would we get back to Italy in time for our six-week housesit that we had committed to in Tuscany?
And more importantly…HOW MUCH would the repairs on our little red love bug investment cost us??
