How To Spend a Day in Paris (and do it Perfectly)

How To Spend a Day in Paris (and do it Perfectly)

I’m currently in Paris, Europe, with my 21-year-old daughter. We’re here for a month, living like locals. On vacation (mainly, I’m still working online).

The backstory is long (and best saved for another time), but in a nutshell, I’m a world traveller from New Zealand, and after losing both my parents last year, this trip marks the beginning of a healing, connecting, year-long family adventure.

My husband and son are in Norway while my daughter and I explore Paris. In a month’s time, the four of us will meet in Greece for a month-long stay, and after that? I don’t know (join my newsletter where I write in depth about all of this and more).

So, why write a post about what to do in just one day in Paris?

Because, like you, I want to see everything… but I also want to do it slowly, intentionally, and meaningfully.

The Ultimate Travel Checklist. 38 Things To Tick Off.

Why do you need a travel checklist?

Because there is only so much information you can store in your brain at once.

That’s why.

Whether you are going on vacation or taking off on a long-term worldwide travel adventure, your head will be whizzing with everything you need to do beforehand, so what better way to combat that than to use a travel checklist?

Let’s jump in.

Housesitting in Europe. How To Save $$$’s When Travelling

Housesitting in Europe. How To Save $$$’s When Travelling

Travelling in Europe is not cheap. I know. A few years ago, we spent three months backpacking around the continent with our two teenage kids as part of our year-long escape from normal life world adventure.

Arriving in Europe after being in Asia was a bit of a shocker, especially on the old budget.

That’s why I’m so glad we discovered the (relatively unknown) travel hack that travellers swear by. Housesitting.

We had done a tour of housesitting in New Zealand, but the real savings (and fun) were to be had when we went to Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Greece, Spain…all over Europe, we have been able to travel for free by housesitting.

We have never looked back, and neither will you.

Not only will house and pet sitting save you $$$’s, but you get to relax and slow down (and, more importantly,)  drink delicious wine from the terraces of beautiful properties.

Win, win.

Florence, Italy. The BEST Way to See it

Florence, Italy. The BEST Way to See it

I’m honoured to be here today to share some of the best things to do in Florence, Italy. I am guessing that you are a FOODIE like me!

Like you, I am a big fan of Italy.

My family and I have spent years researching the best places to visit in Italy.

We have visited all the major cities including Venice, Verona, Milan and Rome.

We have explored the ruins of Pompeii and taken our teenagers to the North and South, East and West.

A family eating at a cafe in Italy. Italy tips on how to get the best coffee in Italy

Not the most flattering of photos, but still, here I am with my two teenagers at a WONDERFUL street side café just outside Florence

We even spent six weeks housesitting in Florence (something I highly recommend if you want to know what Italy is really like).

I tell you all this so that you know you are getting advice from someone who has actually spent a great deal of time in Italy (as opposed to some AI bot that hasn’t).

Later in the post, I will also share a little secret of mine so you can discover Florence off the beaten track. This means you will get to experience the best of what this gorgeous Italian city offers but without the crowds.

And the flag holders.

Perfect.
