Question: How can you afford to travel for a year?
This is the answer that people ask when we tell them that we are currently travelling the world with our two kids.
And no.
We are not millionaires. Far from it! And neither are the traveller’s stories you are about to read.
Travelling is like getting pregnant. Only a lot more fun, and you feel thinner.
As is the case with an imminent birth, as soon as you announce to the world that you intend to pack a case and head out on vacation, you will be bombarded with lots of well-intended tips for travel. (more…)
We have been travelling the world as a family for exactly ten months. Living a life of full-time travel.
Within that time we have visited endless countries and slept in beds, sheds, and in vehicles that I wasn’t sure we would come out of alive.
I’m not going to go into the ins and outs of where we’ve been and what we have done, just know that our long-term travel lifestyle has been incredible; I feel as though we have been to the end of the earth on a cloud.
For God’s sake don’t let my teenagers see that I am writing a traveling with kids post. They’d be horrified to hear me referring to them as kids. They are 17 and 14. According to them, they are almost ready to collect their pensions. (more…)
As a family who travels, we are always on the lookout for unique travel necessities and gift ideas for our kids. Last year saw us backpacking around the world with our teenagers, my girl, aged 14 and our son who is 17.
We were on a strict budget so it was essential for us to keep our gifts to under $20.
