Regardless of whether you are moving to New Zealand or planning to visit when the borders open, there are a few crucial things you should know. Like what NOT to say in New Zealand.

Brian and I thought it would be fun to share seven kiwi BIG no-no’s in this week’s show. That way, when you eventually get off the plane in Aotearoa, you can get on with the good stuff. Like making friends with hobbits and climbing snow-peaked mountains.

Enjoy!

What NOT To say in New Zealand.

It’s such fun researching new countries, especially such wondrous places like New Zealand.

Before you arrive in the land of the long white cloud, there are a few essentials that’ll make your experience easier—learning a bit of the New Zealand slang, for example—knowing your chooks from your chocks. Getting a sneak-peek into typical New Zealand people; finding out what makes them tick. All that kind of stuff.

But what about the things that you SHOULDN’T do?? What if you ask a question in a busy kiwi bar and suddenly hear a pin drop?

Gulp.

In this week’s podcast episode, Brian and I talk about:

  1. Saying New Zealand is owned by the Brits
  2. Football not rugby
  3. Complaining about saussies
  4. Bagging Auckland
  5. Assuming everyone knows everyone (Quick spoiler alert. They do).
  6. Australia
  7. Christmas
